Paul Kalil Drops Anthemic Single "Fix It" from Debut Album "Damaged Novelties"

After much anticipation, Paul Kalil, a guitarist and singer-songwriter living in New York, has finally made his solo debut with "Damaged Novelties." The album's standout track, "Fix It," displays Kalil's fusion of classic rock, soft rock, and rock pop, making for an intense and moving listen.

Following decades of involvement with groups such as Snow Glob Mules, Pong Star, The Trousers, and NDH, Kalil elevates his innate knack for hooks and an acute sense of underground intuition with "Fix It." This song exemplifies his talent for creating heartfelt words intertwined with catchy tunes that will stick in listeners' minds most satisfyingly.

"Fix It" is a segment in the larger story of "Damaged Novelties," an album that Kalil characterizes as an indie-rock dream team effort. Notable musicians who have contributed to the project include Josh Gilbert (Live.In.Lover, Snow Globe Mules), Vijay Tellis Nayak (Kick the Cat, Jennifer Hudson), Nora O'Connor (Decemberists, Neko Case, New Pornographers), Jason Narducy (Bob Mould, Superchunk, Sunny Day Real Estate), and Matt Walker (Morrissey, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Filter).

The highly textured and refined sound of "Fix It," featuring Kalil on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Narducy on bass, guitar, and backing vocals, Dawson on guitar and backing vocals, Walker on drums and percussion, O'Connor on backing vocals, Tellis-Nayak on keyboard and piano, and Gilbert contributing extra backing vocals, is a clear example of the collaborative effort. The song's production, which was overseen by Narducy and included engineering by Taylor Hales at Electrical Audio and Sean O'Keefe at Rosecrud Studio, guarantees a clear and captivating listening experience. The tune is brought to perfection by Hales' final mix and Chicago Mastering's Greg Obis' mastering.

With its blend of reflective lyrics and a sound that crosses the boundaries between indie and mainstream rock, "Fix It" encapsulates Kalil's transition from an indie mainstay to a solo artist. The artwork on the cover, created by Jason Harvey and Jay Ryan, adds visual appeal to go along with the album's auditory experience.

Now accessible on all major streaming services, Paul Kalil's "Fix It" gives fans a taste of the anthem-like rock sound that characterizes "Damaged Novelties." "Fix It" is a monument to Kalil's continuing skill and his capacity to write music that profoundly connects with listeners, with its catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics.
