The Cumberland River Project, helmed by German musician Frank Renfordt, recently released its latest tune, "Highway Blue." This folk-rock track, laced with retro guitar rock pop elements, has a summer vibe reminiscent of The Eagles and demonstrates Frank's talent for storytelling through song.
"Highway Blue" was written and produced by Frank Renfordt and contains a diverse group of musicians from around the world. Frank performed the bass guitar and recorded the rhythm portions. Session musicians from all around the world joined him, including Ender Mogollon from Argentina on acoustic and banjo, JL Folks from the United States on electric guitars, and Neemias Teixeira from Brasilia on piano. Frank engaged Easton Driver, a Nashville-based artist and skilled session singer, to provide the song's vocals, which added the necessary emotional depth.
"Highway Blue" recounts the story of letting go and making new beginnings, with melancholy country elements. The track's calming melodies and evocative lyrics create a nostalgic mood that appeals to listeners.
Frank Renfordt's musical adventure began when he was ten years old and picked up his first guitar. As a teenager, he played bass in the local rock band RING in Hagen, Germany. After putting his profession and family first for many years, Frank rediscovered his love of music and songwriting in his mid-fifties. He developed an interest in country and Americana music after visiting the United States and meeting performers in Nashville.
Frank released two albums, an EP, and several songs as "The Cumberland River Project," gaining a global following based on streaming platforms and social media. His storytelling compositions have earned him several awards, including a finalist spot in the UK Songwriting Contest and an "Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting" award at the Great American Song Contest. His second album, "A Smell of Gravy," won Best Country Album at the German Rock & Pop Awards.
"Highway Blue" is currently accessible across all major streaming platforms. Fans of folk rock and retro guitar rock pop will appreciate The Cumberland River Project's emotional and well-crafted tune.
