Cat Cork's song "Promise Me": A Touching Tune of Hope and Fresh Starts

From the scenic shores of Woy Woy, Australia, Cat Cork emerges with Promise Me, a single that radiates positivity and heartfelt reflection, marking the beginning of an exciting new phase for Cat. Known for weaving sentimentality into songwriting, Promise Me offers a fresh yet familiar perspective, combining uplifting melodies with introspective depth.

The song is a collaboration between Cat Cork and Cameron Taylor and features a stellar lineup of international musicians from Musiversal. With Pablo Arruda on bass, Ben Trigg on cello, Chris Barber and Horacio Paris on drums, and Joao Paulo Drumond on percussion, the track benefits from a rich, global soundscape. Cat’s vocals and guitar were recorded in her home studio, complemented by remote contributions from musicians in Brazil, the UK, Ireland, and Costa Rica. The result is a song that feels intimate yet expansive, bridging distances through the universal language of music.

The music video, made by Milo Cawthorne and Ella Hope-Higginson, brings more creativity to the release. Shot on Super 8 film, it has a vintage vibe, with visuals that resemble classic black-and-white films. The video fits the song's nostalgic tone and also tells a powerful story by itself.

Promise Me is a breath of fresh air compared to Cat’s earlier 2024 work, which leaned towards darker, melancholic themes. Its lighter tone and big sonic impact reflect a sense of hope and renewal.

The track encapsulates the wisdom and growth gained over a transformative year, offering listeners a beacon of light as they embrace new beginnings.
