Roby Fayer’s song, "Broken Symphony," has been steadily gaining traction on streaming platforms - but not everything has always worked in his favor.
For the first time, songwriter and producer Roby Fayer opens up about his difficult childhood and how it shaped the person - and artist - he is today.
“I came from a troubled home,” Roby admits. “My parents fought a lot, and there were days my father would come home drunk and hit my mother. Sometimes, he’d lash out at us kids too. I remember nights when he’d drink, come back, and go after my mom. The next morning, I’d wake up, run to school, and spend the day feeling anxious and depressed. Some days, I was terrified to come home.”
Despite the chaos at home, Roby found ways to cope. “I hid everything as best as I could, but when you grow up in a house like that, you need to let out the tension somehow. That’s where my love for music came in - wild music like rock and metal. It became my escape.
One of Roby’s most powerful songs, "Broken Symphony," was co-written with his collaborator Melosun. “For me, it was about my parents’ divorce. It’s a song with so much depth and emotion, and I think that’s why people connect with it.
Looking back on his journey, Roby shares a heartfelt wish: “I want my music to be the escape for kids in distress, just like my favorite bands were for me.
