Caroline in the Garden’s EP “This Peak”: A Nostalgic Bloom of Synth-Pop Elegance

Caroline in the Garden, the solo project of Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Caroline Milby, arrives in full cinematic color with her debut EP, “This Peak.” A sweeping five-track journey through vintage synth textures and raw emotion, this release is both a love letter to the past and a declaration of modern artistic intent.

Drawing inspiration from 80s New Wave and 90s piano-driven pop icons like Madonna and Tori Amos, “This Peak” weaves lush orchestral synths, intimate piano lines, and lyrical themes of courage and self-discovery. Songs like “The Underside” and “This peak” shimmer with vulnerability, while “Ennui” pulses with a quiet power melodic, moody, and beautifully composed.

Produced alongside Luke Mertz (Motion Cntrl) and recorded between Atlanta and Athens, Georgia, the EP benefits from Caroline’s hands-on approach. Her vocals glide effortlessly through each track, supported by tasteful contributions from Justin Hallman (bass) and Joe Boyle (guitar), building a deeply personal and sonically rich sound.

“This Peak” feels like a secret garden of emotion lush, melodic, and unafraid to be tender. Caroline in the Garden has planted the seeds of something special here: timeless, dreamy pop with roots in nostalgia and petals of empowerment. It’s a debut that deserves your attention and your headphones.
